HFD broke ground on the memorial garden in November.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday morning at fire station 46.

The tribute honors Houston firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice, specifically Capt. Dwight "BB" Bazile and Capt. Grady Burke and firefighters who were assigned to stations within District 46.

Capt. Bazile collapsed Feb. 19, 2015, while fighting a fire at a duplex in southeast Houston. He died at a hospital two days later.

In a tragic coincidence, that fire came 10 years to the day after Capt. Grady Burke was killed while fighting a fire in southeast Houston.

Both Burke and Bazile worked out of fire station 46.
