Heartwarming video shows moment Pasadena High School homecoming queen named

PASADENA, Texas - A social media post by Pasadena Independent School District is going viral showing the heartwarming moment a woman with special needs was crowned homecoming queen.

Pasadena High School announced that Sammy Gonzalez and Cristina Cano are the new homecoming king and queen. 

The video starts off with Sammy waiting to hear who will be crowned queen. He glances back at Cristina, who is wearing a blue gown.

Cristina waits, covering her eyes and mouth as the anticipation grows for the announcement.

When her name is called, she leaps forward, giving Sammy a hug. The video ends with her being crowned, given flowers and posing for pictures. 

“This is so awesome! Love it! The joy on her face!” Janie Garcia commented. Pasadena High School Eagles posted on their Facebook page, “The glitz and glamour of Homecoming was in full bloom at Veterans Memorial Stadium.”

“What a great job the teachers must be doing to teach such KINDNESS and love for all their students!" Michelle Fraslin commented on the video’s post. “YOU GUYS TOTALLY GET IT! Great kids, great future!”

The video posted on the Pasadena Independent School District Facebook page has been viewed nearly 80,000 times and shared more than 1,000 times, as of this writing.
