HOUSTON – A woman was shot and killed during a road rage argument in west Harris County.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said a couple was traveling in their vehicle at 12:30 a.m. Thursday when they got into a traffic altercation with people in two other cars. The altercation escalated when the couple's vehicle was boxed in by the other two, according to authorities.
The driver of one of the other vehicles got out and grabbed his rifle from a nearby home and began shooting at the couple's vehicle as it drove off, deputies said.
The couple's vehicle was hit several times from behind. One of the bullets struck Veronica Soto, 30, in the head, officials said. She was in the front passenger seat. Her husband tried to drive Soto to her sister's home but she did not make it inside. She died in the driveway in the 7700 block of Las Brisas Drive.
Investigators arrested and charged Mark Trevino, 20, with murder. Deputies said Trevino confessed to the killing.
