HCSO: Robbery suspect fatally shot after threatening officers

HOUSTON - Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting where an aggravated robbery suspect was shot and killed.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in north Harris County.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Houston police were chasing the suspect, who was driving a stolen vehicle from a carjacking earlier in the day, when he crashed on Greenspoint Drive at Abney.

Officials said the suspect then jumped out of his car and started running towards Joy Circle.

Police said they found the suspect in a backyard, where he fired his gun at the officers. That's when two Houston police officers returned fire and fatally shot the man.

The sheriff's office said the unidentified suspect may be linked to an earlier aggravated robbery of a store on Aldine Bender and Imperial Valley.

The HPD officers were not injured in this incident.
