HCSO: Cellphone store robbers lock employee in office

HOUSTON – Deputies are searching for two men who robbed a north Houston cellphone store.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the hold-up happened at the AT&T store in the 10700 block of the North Freeway near Green's Landing about 8:30 a.m.

The robbers demanded an employee open a safe, investigators said. The employee told the robbers that she couldn't open the safe because it was on a time lock. The robbers got frustrated and walked out of the office, investigators said.

When the thieves walked out of the office where the safe was kept, the door to the office automatically locked, trapping the employee inside, detectives said.

The men took a cellphone from a display case and left, officials said. They got away in a four-door car driven by a third person, investigators said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
