Gunman who robbed bank inside Houston Walmart sought

Robbery happened at Woodforest Bank inside Walmart on Highway 6 North

HOUSTON – The FBI Violent Crime Task Force is seeking the public's help in identifying a gunman who robbed a bank inside a Houston Walmart.

The robbery happened Monday at the Woodforest Bank inside the Walmart at 4810 Highway 6 North.

Authorities said the man entered the bank, approached the counter and pulled out a black handgun, along with a threatening note demanding cash.

The gunman gave the note to the teller and the teller handed the robber an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said. The gunman fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Authorities said no getaway vehicle was seen by witnesses and no one was physically hurt during the robbery.

The robber is described by authorities as a black man who is 45-50 years old, around 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and a very thin mustache. Witnesses observed graying hair on the sides of his head. Authorities said he wore dark bluejeans, a white T-shirt with a graphic design on the chest, sunglasses and a white Dallas Cowboys baseball cap.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the bank robber, authorities said. Tips may also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers of Houston app. All tipsters remain anonymous.
