The man was shot in the leg during a robbery in the 10200 block of West Belfort Street.
The man is expected to be OK, authorities said.
The shooter left the scene and has not been found.
Investigators from the Houston Police Department's robbery division told KPRC2 the victim was followed home from a nearby check-cashing business.
It's believed the gunman followed the victim home from the check cashing business and demanded money. The victim refused, according to investigators, prompting the gunman to shoot him in the leg.
