Group slashes woman's face, steals Air Jordans

HOUSTON - Sheriff's deputies are searching for a group of men who slashed a woman's face with a knife and stole her friend's brand new Air Jordan sneakers.

Brazoria County officials said it happened Monday morning on Hastings Cannon Road at Morris Street near Pearland.

Efrain Espinoza said he just spent $180 for his Air Jordans, but all he has to show for it are the cuts and bruises to his head and chest.

Deputies said a group of men showed up at a Christmas party and confronted Espinoza about stealing a cellphone, which he said he did not do.

Espinoza said they followed him home and a fight ensued. A 19-year-old was stabbed in the face.

"She was stabbed from the cheek to the chin. They did stitches inside and outside," said Virginia Costilla, the victim's cousin.

"I kicked off my shoes trying to help out. They beat me up and snatched my shoes," Espinoza said.

Officials arrested a 19-year-old woman, but did not release any more information about the case.

The stabbing victim will be OK, officials said.
