"Grinch" caught stealing holiday decorations

KATY, Texas - A real-life Grinch stole Christmas decorations in a Katy subdivision while he had a child with him, said the neighborhood homeowner's association.

David Bryant told KPRC 2 he is the vice president of the association and saw a man, he believes is a resident, stealing Christmas wreaths from the gazebo at a neighborhood park on surveillance video.

Bryant said the man had his young daughter with him.

"It looked like it was pre-planned, if you will. Looked like he had been here before," said Bryant.

The man in the surveillance video can be seen walking into the park gazebo pushing a stroller  with a child sitting in it. He takes the child out of the stroller and walks back and forth under the Christmas lights and decorations just before stealing a wreath and taking off with the child.

"We've made a lot of improvements to this subdivision to make the community proud and then we see something like this happen and it's kind of disgusting," said Bryant. "We're going to put the wreath back up and try to, at least for a week, make it more presentable for Christmas."

Bryant and his wife said neighbors have been afraid to come forward because of retaliation but he urges anyone who sees anything suspicious to call police.
