Teen charged with murder in shooting death of good Samaritan

A teen has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a good Samaritan in a southwest Houston neighborhood Friday.

According to homicide investigators, the victim was sitting inside his car when he saw a couple fighting in the 7100 block of Troulon. He got out of the car and stepped in to help the woman.

Officers said that's when Hector Henriquez, 18, pulled out a gun and started shooting. The victim, whose name has been released, was hit at least once.

He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he died.

Henriquez ran from the scene but after an anonymous tip, police found him under a nearby bridge.
It is unknown what the couple was arguing about.

Police said neither Henriquez nor the woman knew the victim. It is unclear why he was in the area.

Houston police continue to investigate.
