Glamour Girls owner injured in shootout with robber, police say

HOUSTON – Neighbors are calling it an ambush. Around 9 a.m. Monday, just one day after Christmas, the owner of the strip club, Glamour Girls, was opening for the day when police said he was followed inside by an armed suspect.

"By somebody who was waiting around to get some free money, or something," Jay Norman, with Bar Sports, said.

Police said the suspect told the owner he was there to rob him. Investigators said the owner acted quickly and fired his gun at the suspect.

It's unknown if the suspect was hit, but police said that he immediately fired back, striking the owner several times in the hands and legs.

The suspect got away, according to police.

Norman's son owns Bar Sports two doors down.

"It just makes you think about what could happen," Norman said.

Norman said they have the right security measures -- guards and surveillance cameras -- but that something like this would be impossible to prevent.

"You could've been at the store getting groceries, and it just happens anytime, anywhere," Norman said.

The owner is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are searching for the suspect.
