HOUSTON - A 3-year-old girl was rushed to a hospital Wednesday after she fell off a ride at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo carnival.
The accident happened on the Techno Jump.
Rodeo officials said there was nothing wrong with the ride. They said the child's mother was at fault for letting her child ride without her. The girl's brother was also on the ride.
The girl crawled out from under a restraining bar and fell to the ride's platform, HLSR officials said. The ride had just started and had not gained any height when the girl fell, officials said.
The 3-year-old, whose name has not been released, suffered contusions on her face and head, HLSR officials said.
The girl did meet the height requirement for the ride, officials said.
The ride was closed for inspection. It passed an inspection on Tuesday, HLSR officials said.
