A fire happened around 2:45 p.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of Aldine Bender Road in Houston when the family attempted to deep-fry their turkey, the Eastex Fire Department said.

The family took the turkey outside to fry it, when it caught the garage on fire and spread to their house, the Eastex Fire Department said.

The fire completely destroyed the family's garage and most of their home as a result.

There were no injuries, officials say.
