HOUSTON – Nine people were arrested Wednesday when officers raided several game rooms in west Houston, police said.

One of the establishments was in a Chinatown shopping center at Bellaire Boulevard and Beltway 8, where Video showed at least two police vehicles parked in front of the business.

Hill said officers are still processing the identity of those who were arrested, and more arrests could be made.

Charges will range from money laundering to gambling to organized crime, Hill said.

While game rooms are not illegal in Texas, cash payouts from the gaming machines are. The so-called “fuzzy animal law” allows for carnival-type prizes to be awarded.
