Claudia Esquivel is accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend.

HOUSTON - A Galveston woman is being charged with murder after police say she shot and killed her boyfriend.

According to Galveston police, around 4 a.m. Monday they received a 911 call reporting a family violence disturbance on the 1600 block of Ave M and One-Half involving Christopher Chapa and Claudia Esquivel.

When officers arrived at the home, they discovered Chapa's body with one gunshot wound to the head.

While at the scene, officers discovered the original 911 call was made by Esquivel's mother.  

Investigators called the number back and spoke with Esquivel's mother.  

They then discovered Esquivel was at her mother's house on Pine Street.

Police immediately went to the mother's house, where they found and arrested Esquivel.

Esquivel has been charged with murder, and is now being held on $150,000 bond.

Police say the case is still under investigation.
