Funeral planned Tuesday for Pearland officer killed in crash

Friends, family and fellow officers are gathering on Monday to remember a Pearland police officer who was killed by an alleged drunk driver.

A viewing is underway for Endy Ekpanya at Grace Community Church on the Gulf Freeway.

Ekpanya died June 13 after his patrol car was hit by a suspected drunken driver.

Amber Willemsen is charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

Ekpanya had been with the Pearland Police Department for a year.

A public viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church on Gulf Freeway.

Ekpanya's funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

He will be buried at South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

Donations are being accepted to The 100 Club Survivors Fund that provides benefits to the dependents of Firefighters and Law Enforcement Officers who lose their life in the line of duty.
