Crime Stoppers teams up with Houston PetSet during September

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers, in partnership with Houston PetSet, is promoting and educating the community about animal cruelty throughout September.

Crime Stoppers said the goal is to raise awareness about what is considered "animal cruelty" and how to identify the signs of animal abuse, increase the number of people reporting animal cruelty and prevent the suffering of animals.

Additionally, Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help in locating three fugitives wanted in Harris County for crimes against animals. 

Arturo Aguilar is wanted for hitting a dog on the head with an ax, police said. 

Qian Feng is wanted for trying to poison a dog with contaminated cheese balls, police said. According to reports, a woman's dog was in a play yard when it picked up something and began to eat it. She was able to pull the item from the dog's mouth, which turned out to be a cheese ball with poisoned seeds containing strychnine inside it, police said. The dog survived. Police said surveillance video captured Feng throwing the cheese balls over the fence into the play yard.

Derick Anthony Collins is wanted for abusing a small, 6-month-old dog named Pinky. Police said Collins grabbed the dog by the neck and slammed it against a brick building after getting into a fight with a woman. According to reports, Collins also slammed the dog against a concrete sidewalk and threw the dog over a fence toward a bayou. The dog was found approximately 50 feet on the other side of the fence with injuries to its paws and legs, police said.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrests.
