A top law enforcement official finds himself the target of a fake Twitter account.

Someone has been pretending to be Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls, tweeting out some unsettling comments.

Sheriff Nehls sent his own tweet out Wednesday, saying he was aware of a fake Twitter account that had replied to another sheriff's tweet, pretending to be him.

He's referring to a tweet from the Williamson County sheriff that talked about an intoxicated driver.

The fake Troy Nehls replied, "we just shoot people like that in my department."

That tweet was then used in an online article by the Austin Statesman.

The publication has now removed that fake tweet.
