Former youth pastor, volunteer firefighter accused of sexual assault of teen

WEST COLUMBIA, Texas – A former youth pastor and volunteer firefighter is accused of sexually assaulting a teen from his church.

According to Brazoria County Jail records, deputies arrested 39-year-old Travis Nichols for sexual assault on March 19.

His bond was set at $40,000, and jail records show he posted bond on Wednesday and was released from jail.

West Columbia Police Chief Paul Odin confirmed Wednesday afternoon that Nichols’ was a pastor and volunteer firefighter at West Columbia Volunteer Fire Department.

A source said Nichols was a youth pastor at Iglesia Centro Cristiano, which is part of the Gulf Coast Christian Center.

The chief said the victim, who is now 18, had told a family member what allegedly happened and that person called West Columbia police.
