Fire damages 2 floors of downtown high-rise, officials say

HOUSTON – Houston firefighters battled a two-alarm fire Saturday afternoon at a downtown high-rise, officials said.

The fire was reported at 2:39 p.m. in the 600 block of Louisiana Street.

Houston arson officials responded to reports of smoke and fire on the fourth floor of the high-rise.

Officials said the building was immediately evacuated and all occupants got out safely. There were no reported injuries.

The flames were dowsed and under control by 3:35 p.m.

It is unknown what started the fire.

The Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau is investigating the incident.
