Fire causes traffic signals to go out

HOUSTON - A fire in southwest Houston caused traffic trouble.

The fire broke out in the back yard of a home near the Southwest Freeway and Beechnut about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A driver said he was traveling on feeder road when something sparked and nearly hit his vehicle.

"I'm glad it didn't," driver James Ardoin said.

The fire caused nearby traffic signals to go out.
