HOUSTON - A pizza shop in southeast Houston was forced to temporarily close its doors Tuesday morning after an early morning fire.

According to fire crews, someone reported a fire at Spanky's Homemade Pizza and Bar around 3 a.m.

Crews arrived at the corner of 610 and Woodridge Drive and found smoke pouring out of the windows and vents of the building.

Firefighters battled the intense fire and determined that the flames had sparked in the kitchen.

Fire crews stayed at the pizza restaurant for several hours to ensure hot spots didn't flare up again.
