PASADENA, Texas – A shelter-in-place that was issued for several schools after a fire broke out at a refinery in Pasadena has been lifted
The fire at the Pasadena Refining System on Red Bluff near Traffic Circle broke out shortly about 1:45 p.m.

The Pasadena Independent School District said campuses on the north side of Spencer Highway were told to shelter in place, but the order was lifted a short time later. The schools were not in session, but staff was at the schools.
Investigators said crude oil was burning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
