HOUSTON - As many as six people were injured Thursday when a fight outside a downtown Houston nightclub ended in a crash and a shooting.

The incident was reported about 2:30 a.m. at Spire Nightclub near Travis and Jefferson streets.

According to Houston police, a group began fighting in the parking lot and a car with three people inside drove into the crowd. They said at least one person was hit by the vehicle. They said someone else pulled out a gun and began shooting at the car, and the car drove away.

A short time later, an officer spotted the heavily damaged car and pulled it over, police said. They said that the officer found people inside who were suffering from gunshot wounds and other injuries. They said that as the officer was calling for help, three males in the car ran from the scene.

Two of the males were apprehended in the 900 block of Bell Street and taken to local hospitals. There is no word on their condition.

The third male is still on the run.

Police said several people were also injured during the fight outside the nightclub.

Investigators said they are still trying to determine who started the fight and who fired the shots.
