Father charged in son's death

HOUSTON - A father has been charged in a 2-year-old's death.

Tyrone Jefferson, 24, has been charged with capital murder.

Houston police said Ja'shun Davis went into cardiac arrest at an apartment complex in the 16800 block of City View Place about 1 p.m. Thursday.

Ja'shun was rushed to Northwest Medical Center, where he died.

According to court documents, Ja'shun was beaten with a belt after he urinated where he sleeps.

Detectives said Jefferson called 911 after Ja'shun struggled to breathe and became unresponsive.

Doctors said Ja'shun had multiple bruises on his body.

Jefferson was booked into the Harris County Jail without bond.

Jefferson's criminal history includes convictions on drug possession charges.
