Fat Tuesday by local cajun restaurant

HOUSTON - The weather isn't putting a damper on Fat Tuesday celebrations.

It may be cold outside but the crawfish are hot at The Ragin Cajun on Richmond.

Luke Mandola owns the Ragin Cajun and says Mardi Gras goes on rain or shine.

"You still gotta eat! Right now on their mind is gumbo, crawfish, Mardi Gras," said Mandola.

Although crawfish are their specialty, they've sold plenty of king cakes this season and have a few left.

"This is a big week for us because of Mardi Gras today, tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, Friday is first Friday of Lent, rodeo is in town," Mandola said.

Mandola said they sell more crawfish there than anywhere else in Houston.
