HOUSTON - Saddle up boys and girls -- ladies and gentleman because the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is underway!

Despite and ugly first day of weather -- three of the coolest, funnest, most cowboyest weeks in Houston are upon us.

"You got the cowboys and the cowgirls. And the vendors," said Houston's Michael Curvey. "So, it's wonderful time and a great event for the city of Houston."

The rodeo has something for just about everyone; carnival rides for the big kids -- and kiddie rides for the kid-kids. And then there's the food. Oh...the food!

"At the Rodeo Houston here in the next 20 days we're going to go through a 100,000 pounds of legs, right here," said Brett Enright of Juicy's restaurant.

There's also the prize show animals and the nightly entertainment.

Houston's own Danielle Bradbery took center stage to sing the national anthem. Country music star Brad Paisley was Tuesday night's featured entertainment.
