HOUSTON - A family of six was taken to a hospital Saturday evening after getting caught in the middle of a police chase.

It happened at the intersection of Trickey and Hugh roads.

According to police, the suspect vehicle drove through a red light a couple miles away.

After police started to pursue the vehicle, the driver went through a stop sign at the intersection, sending the family's SUV into a ditch.

Police said the family was heading to a church function down the road. There were several food items in their car for the function.

Police found illegal drugs during a search of the suspect's car. The suspect also had a warrant out for his arrest. The suspect will face charges for the illegal drugs as well as for evading a motor vehicle.

All family members and the suspect were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
