Family escapes from burning northeast Houston home

Cause of fire under investigation

HOUSTON – A family escaped from their burning northeast Houston home on Tuesday morning.

Houston firefighters said the blaze broke out on Denning Drive near Sterlingshire Street about 4 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they said they found flames shooting through the roof of the one-story brick home. They quickly started battling the fire and were able to keep it from spreading to a neighboring home.

Firefighters were able to get it under control, but not before the entire roof collapsed.

Homeowner Bobby Lucky said his son woke him up after he spotted flames. The family of three got out of the home without injury.

The family had lived in the home for about a year.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
