Fallen DPS trooper's family to receive $20K from nonprofit

HOUSTON – Family members of fallen Department of Public Safety Trooper Damon Allen will receive a $20,000 from a local nonprofit.

The 100 Club, which supports the dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty, says it will issue the check to Allen’s wife and three children.

Allen, 41, was shot during a traffic stop on I-45 South near Fairfield, Texas on Thanksgiving.

The 100 Club said additional financial support for the dependent family will be made after an assessment of their needs is conducted. The 100 Club said the average gift to a dependent family is approximately $300,000.
