EZ Pawn robbers caught on tape

HOUSTON – Robbers used sledgehammers to break into an EZ Pawn store in east Houston.

Houston police have surveillance video of the masked, armed suspects smashing the glass cases at a store in the 5300 block of the East Freeway on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. to steal jewelry while employees and customers were ordered to remain on the ground.

Police said in under two minutes, the men stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

On their way out, the thieves took a sledgehammer to a television set.

"It gives the appearance that they have no fear, nor do they care about the safety of the employees or the customers that might be inside there," an HPD officer said.

The suspects were only described as four to six black and/or Hispanic males in their late teens or early 20s, all between 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. They were seen arriving and fleeing the scene in a black Dodge Charger with chrome door handles and chrome or silver windshield wipers.

Anyone with information on the suspects wanted in this case is asked to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
