An ex-teacher at Nimitz High School accused of having sex with a student is out on bond and expected in court Monday.
Police said an investigation began after another student reported that she knew a student on one of the school teams was having a relationship with Eber Jaime Lopez, 35.
Investigators said they examined the 17-year-old student’s phone and found several sexually explicit messages, Facetime calls, and photos. Officials called the number that the messages were sent from and Lopez answered and identified himself, they said.
Officials said the relationship began in September and ended in January and that the two had several encounters at a local motel and in the coach's car.
Lopez was jailed on a $30,000 bond.
