Ex-girlfriend speaks out on man accused of killing Baytown teen

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police investigators said it could take a few days before they file charges against a 21-year-old man they believe killed a mother and her two daughters.

“Towards me, he was very rude and hateful and abusive, but he was very nice to other people," said Jesse Dobbs' ex-girlfriend, Dallas Hay.

Hay has two young children with Dobbs and she talked to him while he was on the run from police Tuesday.

“I said, 'Where's the girl? Where's the girl?' and he said, 'What girl?' He acted surprised like he didn't know what had happened, but then again, Jesse is a good liar,” said Hay.

At the time, police were searching for Dobbs and his 16-year-old girlfriend, Kirsten Fritch. Officers arrested Dobbs inside a Texas City bar and found Kirsten stabbed to death in a field nearby.

Police believe he also shot and killed Kirsten's mother and sister in their Baytown home.

“It creates a unique challenge because we have two homicides here in Baytown, a double here in Baytown, and that's one crime scene, one crime itself. And then we have the homicide in Texas City of Kirsten,” said Lt. Steve Dorris with Baytown Police Department.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office charged Dobbs for assaulting Hay earlier this year. Then she built the courage to move her children to Louisiana.

“He would ask if he could stay with me and live with me and he missed his family,” said Hay.

She refused to return to the relationship, but she wishes she could've done more to save the Baytown family.

“Even though it's not my fault, I feel like it's my fault because if I would've stayed, he probably wouldn't have hurt them,” said Hay.

Goose Creek CISD's Robert E. Lee High School sent a letter to parents on Friday that read, "As you may have heard, our school community has suffered the loss of one of our students. Police believe that they have located the body of Kirsten Fritch.

"The death of a young person is always a tragedy. For a student to pass away under these circumstances is shocking and devastating. Young people deal with grief in a variety of ways; I encourage you to talk to your student and listen to any feelings they may wish to express. We had grief counselors on campus today and will continue to have extra counseling services available for the foreseeable future.

"We do not know why these things happen, we can only try our hardest to deal with that we do know. This family has suffered a tremendous loss that few of us can comprehend. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers."
