The chase happened on West Bay Area Boulevard near the Baybrook Village Apartments.

While officers were searching for Ross, they found him and Charleston Yancy, 24, of Friendswood, who both ran into an apartment and locked the door.

Ross attempted to exit the apartment through a broken living room window, but was caught by police. Ross told police he ran because he saw the police around his apartment and thought they were there for him because he has outstanding warrants, according to police.

Ross refused to provide any information about Yancy, who was still inside the apartment.

Officers ordered Yancy to come out, and looked in the apartment. They could smell marijuana, and saw a large jar of marijuana, loose cash and drug paraphernalia inside the apartment.

Apartment managers let officers enter the apartment, where Yancy was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension. Ross was charged with evading arrest or detention.

Officers took possession of 4.6 ounces of marijuana, 4.4 grams of Xanax, 8.3 grams of ecstasy, a small amount of cocaine residue, a stolen .45-caliber gun, an AK-47 and $500 in counterfeit money, according to the department.
