Driver rescued from fiery crash in Spring

SPRING – A driver was rushed to the hospital after deputies said he sped off the road and his car burst into flames in Spring. 

According to investigators, the 25-year-old was speeding when he drove off the road on Rayford near Genoa at around 11 p.m., then went several hundred feet into a ditch. The car eventually crashed into a culvert pipe.

The impact of the crash caused the car to break into pieces and catch fire.

The mirror hung 20 feet up from a tree. The engine and transmission were thrown out of the car. 

A deputy arrived and put the fire out using an extinguisher. 

The Montgomery County Fire Department had to cut the driver out of the car. The driver was transported to Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands in critical condition. 

The driver was the only person in the car.
