Driver in custody after hitting, killing pedestrian

HOUSTON - A driver was taken into custody after deputies said he hit and killed a man while driving drunk.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday on Farm to Market Road 2920 near Binford Road.

According to reports, the driver entered the westbound lanes on FM 2920 in an attempt to pass a slower car and hit a pedestrian who was walking in the road.

Deputies said the pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver stopped and waited for investigators to arrive.  They tested him for alcohol at the scene, found him to be intoxicated, and took him into custody, deputies said.

However, the case is being referred to the District Attorney's office for any possible charges.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
