HOUSTON - A driver has been charged in a wreck that killed two people.
Aaron Chavira, 33, has been charged with driving while intoxicated.
Houston police said a Ford Explorer hit the back of a Chevrolet Silverado on the Northwest Freeway near 34th Street about 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
The driver and passenger in the Silverado got out to exchange information with the driver of the Explorer. The men in the Silverado thought the driver of the Explorer was drunk, so the driver got back into the pickup truck to call police.
While the driver of the Silverado was in the vehicle, Chavira, who was driving a Lincoln Navigator, hit the Explorer and Silverado, investigators said.
The 45-year-old driver of the Explorer and the 64-year-old passenger in the Silverado, who were both outside of the vehicles, were hit and killed, detectives said. Their names have not been released.
Chavira was arrested at the scene.
