Driver arrested in woman's slaying

HOUSTON - A man accused of intentionally running over a woman, killing her, has been arrested.

Jessie Blanco, 28, has been charged with murder. A Crime Stoppers tip led to his arrest on Tuesday, investigators said.

Houston police said Blanco and Melissa Chavez, 28, got into a dispute in the 4200 block of T.C. Jester near Saxon Drive about 2:50 a.m. on Monday.

Blanco assaulted Chavez and then ran over her several times, investigators said. Chavez died at the scene.

Police have not said what sparked the attack.

Blanco's criminal history includes convictions on charges of assault of a family member, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct and theft.
