HOUSTON - A driver is facing felony evading charges after a high-speed chase through north Harris County on Sunday.

According to reports, a DPS state trooper was patrolling Highway 249 near Smiling Wood Lane at around 3:30 a.m. when a car blew past him, going upwards of 100 mph.

The trooper said he managed to catch up to the car and attempted to pull the driver over, but he sped off.

After a brief chase, troopers said the suspect lost control near Beltway 8 and crashed into a light pole at the intersection. He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and multiple lacerations.

Troopers said in addition to the chase charges, the driver also had a class C warrant out for his arrest.
