HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Prosecutors laid out the case against Juan Antonio Alvizo during a probable cause hearing Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors said part of the evidence includes Alvizo’s admission to state troopers he drank “five to six beers” before getting on the road.
Early Sunday morning, Dickinson police said they tried to stop Alvizo’s Chevy pickup after seeing it run two red lights. Police said Alvizo then led officers on a chase that hit speeds of 120 mph. The pursuit started in Dickinson, and went through League City, Webster and Houston before ending in the city of South Houston.
“During the pursuit the suspect vehicle hit a retaining wall, which disabled his right front tire, causing sparks and debris," a prosecutor said.
Prosecutors said Alvizo kept going and eventually slammed into the back of a car carrying a family of three.
"The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway, causing them to roll several times," the prosecutor said.
A 10-year-old girl in the car remains in a coma.
Her parents said part of her skull was removed to relieve brain swelling. She has a broken pelvis and toes. Her parents were also badly hurt in the crash.

Prosecutors stated Alvizo has no driver's license, or Texas ID.
Alvizo told the judge he is a citizen of Mexico. Alvizo is charged with aggravated assault and his bond was set at $150,000.
Alvizo is also charged in Galveston County with evading arrest and his bond was set at $100,000. Prosecutors stated Alvizo agreed to have his blood drawn as part of the investigation and they are awaiting test results.
A judge indicated the results of those tests could bring additional charges against Alvizo.
