Drinking together can lead to happy marriage, study finds

A glass of wine a day could keep the divorce lawyers away, according to a new study.

The study, published in the Journals of Gerontology, found couples who drink together are happier than couples in which only one partner drinks.

Researchers questioned more than 2,700 couples over 10 years.

The couples were married an average of 33 years and were all at least 50 years old.

The lead author said what's significant is not how much the couples drink, but whether they both drink.

The study also found 20 percent of men and 6 percent of women had significant drinking problems.
