Domestic disturbance leads to SWAT scene

SWAT officers surround southeast Houston home

HOUSTON - SWAT officers surrounded a northeast Houston home for hours Tuesday after a man barricaded himself inside.

Officers were called to the house in the 7800 block of Richland shortly after 8 a.m. for a domestic disturbance call involving a 49-year-old man and two of his relatives.

Houston police said the suspect barricaded himself inside the home and was armed. The relatives were able to leave the house unharmed.

The man turned himself in at 11:30 a.m., officials said. He was no longer inside the house and was nearby at the corner of Hardy and English. His name was not released.

Several streets in the area were blocked off as a precaution.
