The proposed route includes areas along Hempstead Road, in northwest Houston.

The FRA held 10 public hearings in the affected counties in Texas. The public comment period ends Friday.

As a part of the EIS, the impact of alternate route alignments will be analyzed, including possible routes that share corridors with existing rail lines and along electricity utility lines.

The impact to the human and natural environment will also be analyzed.
