Deputy injured in high-speed chase in north Houston

Man behind the wheel arrested on several charges

HOUSTON - A deputy was hurt after a high-speed chase through north Houston.

It started around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning when deputies were called to a scene off of Cypresswood in Tomball.

As the feputy was pulling up, a man in another car took off. Deputies chased him on Highway 249. 

At times, investigators said he was going over 100 miles per hour.

Deputies said the driver's girlfriend was in the car at the time. They believe he had recently assaulted her.

The driver was eventually arrested. He was charged with felony evading, family assault and other charges.

One deputy was injured after she was rear-ended by a pickup truck during that chase. The lieutenant skidded off the road and hit a metal utility pole.

She was transported to the hospital with a broken arm.
