HOUSTON - Deputies said a minor traffic accident in Northwest Harris County ended with one man shot and taken to the hospital.

Investigators said it started when the men got into a minor fender-bender on West Little York near Guhn shortly after 5 p.m. The drivers then got into some kind of altercation and started driving side by side yelling at each other, officials said.

One of the drivers pulled out mace and sprayed the other, who in turn pulled out his gun and shot the man, deputies said. The gunshot victim suffered a wound to the face and was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

"I saw them arguing and then I saw the dude pull up on the side of him and he sprayed him with mace and then the other dude started shooting," said Tale Hewitt, a witness.

The suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
