Deputies: Father shot, killed on his way to work

HOUSTON - Harris County Deputies are searching for two men who robbed and killed a man on his way to work.

The shooting happened in front of the victim's home around 6:20 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Shayan Court near Gulf Bank Road. in northeast Harris County. Deputies said the 48-year-old victim was targeted at random.

"He was leaving for work, and we understand hat he was confronted," said Felipe Rivera with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "They were giving him demands and shots were fired."

Neighbors said they dialed 911 after they heard several gunshots. When deputies showed up, investigators said they found the homeowner on the ground next to his car, and the shooters nowhere to be found.

Deputies said the victim, who's name hasn't been released, was a father and husband. His teenage son and his wife were inside the home at the time. They were not hurt.

Crime scene techs spent hours Friday morning searching for clues into exactly what happened. Investigators said since there is no vehicle description and no witnesses have come forward, they don't have much to go on. Deputies said they're checking with neighbors in the area to see if they have home security cameras that may have recorded anything related to the crime.

They're also asking anyone with information to call Harris County Deputies at (713) 659-0005.
