JACINTO CITY, Texas – A 9-year-old girl was shopping with her mother Monday afternoon at the Seller Bros. supermarket when she was approached by a man who stuck his cellphone in her face, while it was playing pornography.
The girl, Mareline, is still shaken by the strange and disturbing incident.
"She told him, ‘Leave me alone. I don't want to talk to you,’” said Joel Sibrian, a friend of the victim’s family. “And he just kept talking to her and she started screaming.”
The man insisted Mareline watch a pornographic video that was playing on his cellphone screen.
Mareline said that in the video, she saw two women kissing -- and that she didn’t want to see that. She ran away and the man chased after her, the child said.
When Mareline asked, “Why are you chasing me?” The man said, “None of your business,” the girl said through a translator.
"This is hard pornography,” said Detective Sgt. Betty Silva, of the Jacinto Police Department. “They're in the act of having sex.”
Police are now searching for the man, hoping to charge him with enticing a child. The same man is accused of pulling the same stunt -- in an incident also involving a young girl -- inside the same store March 15.
Officers said he is very dangerous.
“We don't know what's on his mind,” Silva said. “Does he want to entice these girls to go with him? Is he going to abduct one of them? This guy's dangerous.”
Police want help in identifying the man, who has been prowling at stores in the area and possibly targeting little girls. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, with gelled black hair that’s brushed back, a black mustache and an average build. The man is believed to be Hispanic, police said.
“I want to get this guy,” Silva said. “I want to put him behind bars, where he belongs.”
