Culberson, Fletcher square off for debate at University of Houston

HOUSTON – Republican incumbent John Culberson and Democratic candidate Lizzie Fletcher squared off for Sunday night's debate.

The two are running for the 7th Congressional District office.

The debate started at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Houston.

The two were originally supposed to debate last Monday but postponed the event because Culberson had undergone surgery for diverticulitis. Doctors told the 62-year-old to rest for 10 days.

Both parties agreed to wait until Culberson got better to hold the debate.

Fletcher is looking to unseat Culberson for the 7th Congressional District, which is the West Houston and West Harris County area.

U.S. Rep. Culberson has represented the district since 2001.
