HOUSTON - Crooks caused major damage, but left empty-handed, during a failed smash-and-grab attempt at a gas station and convenience store in northwest Houston early Friday.
According to Houston police, a clerk was inside a Valero on Crosstimbers and Airline when two men in a truck backed into the building.
The truck hit a main structure beam, which caused part of the ceiling to come crashing down, sending debris scattering.
The crooks were attempting to steal the ATM, but ditched their plans and decided to make a run for it.
They left the truck behind and fled on foot.
The suspects remain on the loose.
