Severely injured pit bull found in suitcase in rear of abandoned building

Dog stabbed, beaten, veterinarian says

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A severely injured pit bull was found early Tuesday inside a suitcase in the rear of an abandoned building in Hollywood, authorities said.

Hollywood police said officers were called to 1945 Lee St. about 1 a.m. and found a dog's paw sticking out of a suitcase.

Officers heard the dog cry and opened the suitcase to find a pit bull with severe lacerations on the top of his head and body.

The dog, which has been named Ollie, was taken to the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital.

A veterinarian at the animal hospital determined that Ollie had been stabbed and beaten.

"He has pretty deep wounds on his chest and also on his head," Dr. Nicole Patterson said.

Despite the injuries, Patterson said Ollie appears to be in good spirits.

"He's happy," she said. "He's still wagging his tail."

Authorities said Ollie did not have a chip and was wearing a collar with no tag.

Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue is looking for a foster home for Ollie.
